Organizing Your Stockroom With Wire Shelving: Three Ideas To Consider

by Ethel Lee

When it comes to storing inventory in your stockroom, you want to maximize your available space. Wall-mounted wire shelving offers a convenient way to do just that. If you are planning to reorganize your stockroom, here are just a few ways you can use these shelving systems to your advantage.

Wall-Mounted Bin Systems

Wall-mounted bin systems come in handy for a number of reasons. The individual plastic bins hang from a wire rack, creating a system of small storage containers. These containers can be used to store small pieces of inventory or hardware for sales floor display fixtures. You can also use the bins to store extra parts for inventory, so you can help customers with repairs as needed. Consider hanging these shelving systems from the floor to the ceiling in one section of your stockroom to create a wall of vertical storage. Another option is to hang the bins on the walls behind your shelving units or pallet racks to make the most of the wall space in your stockroom.

Cantilever Shelving Systems

Cantilever shelving systems give you convenient storage options without having to devote a lot of stockroom space to pallet racks or large shelving units. The wall-mounted shelves can be used to store stacks of folded apparel, boxes of inventory, or containers filled with sale signs. Be sure to check the maximum weight load for each shelf to ensure they stay securely in place on the walls. Install these shelves running the length of the stockroom walls, or install them above your existing pallet racks for another layer of convenient storage.

Wall-Mounted Grid Systems

Wall-mounted grid systems work with peg hooks to create storage for small inventory items, such as socks, necklaces, or other accessories. This means you can fill hooks with product and simply remove the hooks from the grid system when the sales floor fixtures need to be refilled. You can also hang wire baskets from the grid system to store items that don't hang on your fixtures. Wall-mounted grid systems also work on the walls of your store, giving you a convenient way to maximize your merchandising space.

Use these ideas as inspiration when you are reorganizing your stockroom, and look for other ways to get the most out of every inch of your available stockroom storage space. With a little planning and the addition of some durable fixtures, you can store more inventory for your customers.
